My Projects

Most of these projects are utilizing javascript frameworks; as a high school computer science teacher I found that kids were more invested the faster they could see their own work in the wild, and so javascript allows for things to show up on the web much faster.

Emoji Classifier (best viewed on desktop/laptop)

Created an image recognition model utilizing TensorFlow.js via Teachable Machine to recognize drawings as emojis. Currently the model is only trained to recognize 4 emojis: 💩, 🐸, 😂, and 😘.
Just draw one of these 4 emojis on a piece of paper and hold it up to your webcam and see if this model can recognize what you drew.

If your camera isn't detected, you can try opening up the project in a separate window, then cycle through webcam devices Click to Open in New Window

Draw Your Emoji (best viewed on desktop)

I wanted to show students a fast way to collect images to train ML models. So I built this little drawing tool and had students across all the periods I taught make drawings, save them, then add them to a google drive. I could then upload their images to my model.
Click and hold to draw, then click the Save to PNG button.

My Student's Projects

I spent 8 years teaching high school math and computer science. I loved teaching, especially teaching kids who didn't have confidence in their own abilities in math or computer science. Here are some of their projects.
